Oreo Milkshake

I love cookies & creme as an ice cream flavor and kinda wanted some the other night, but my freezer is out of space, and I honestly don’t remember the last time I bought ice cream, so I decided to make a healthier version! :O Recipe adapted from here! I may try making healthy Oreos someday because I think I actually have everything I need to make it, but…today is not that day.

Protein Hot Chocolate

It’s getting frighteningly cold and I’m not really sure how I stayed so complacent about it last year (maybe I didn’t actually and my brain blocked it out so that I would still come back after winter break). I’d taken to starting each morning with a smoothie, but since it’s been so darn cold, I haven’t really been wanting to drink something icy in the morning. So I decided to make a hot one! :O I got the idea to add an egg in there from here.

Protein Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:
-1 scoop 100% whey concentrated + isolated chocolate whey protein
-1 banana
-1 cup vanilla soy milk
-1 egg

Instructions:
1) Heat milk (on medium-high) in a small pot until bubbles start appearing. While that’s doing its thing mix all other ingredients in a blender. Pour in the milk and blend it again.
2) Serve immediately! :]

Chocolate Coffee Protein Shake

My coffee consumption has increased quite a bit since I started hanging out with my current study buddies. (We generally all study alone but in the general vicinity of each other and then convene a day or two before exam days to drill everything under the sun.) I usually bring more than enough food for myself, so I keep them fed too, and they get me coffee, make me protein shakes/sandwiches, or buy me food. :O

I’m not actually too big on caffeine though, so my coffee consumption is a whole lot lower. It takes me about 5(?) days to get through a ~20 oz cup, so I took to blending a little into my smoothie each morning. :O It turned out really well and is especially useful for super-long days (helps me stay awake/keep focused)! I only have chocolate protein powder right now, but I imagine this would be great with vanilla as well. I need to find more sources of inexpensive and awesome protein powder.

Chocolate Raspberry Protein Smoothie

There were other fruits in here, but the raspberries and chocolate really took over. It tasted like an awesome dessert! :] Basically my morning meal replacement/energizer for before I took a quiz. I needed something super fast and easy. :P

Chocolate Strawberry Mango Protein Smoothie

Guess who finally finished her 11-lb. bag of frozen strawberries from Costco!? (I got it before I started medical school. o_o)

I’m not a morning person, and somewhere whilst making my protein after-workout smoothie in my foggy morning stupor, I used a spoon to shove the strawberries that weren’t blending in a downward fashion.

Well, this genius also left said spoon in the blender and forgot about it.

In case you’re wondering, no one died (other than my blender, anyway :[ ). My new one makes life a whole lot more convenient for me, so there’s a plus. :O

I’m also really glad that my friends look out for me. :D

They tell me when there’s free food on campus that I don’t know about. <3

I rarely put ice in my smoothies since I don’t get along too well with brainfreezes, but the fact that I’ve been using frozen fruit also helps. :P It’s already cold! No ice necessary.
